A new public procurement agency in Egypt called Mostakbal Misr has signed direct wheat supply agreements. The volume of these supplies will be sufficient until June 2025.
The total volume of contracts is 1.267 million tons. The majority of supplies are products of Russian origin, as reported by Reuters.
"This strategic move allows avoiding the need for additional wheat purchases in the near future, especially considering that the wheat harvest season in Egypt is expected to begin in the second half of April," sources familiar with the deal details said, according to the news agency.
Earlier, leading Russian suppliers expressed readiness to participate in Mostakbal Misr tenders and confirmed negotiations with its representatives for direct supply for pre-marketing purposes.
