In her role as the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, Oksana Lut has drawn attention to the necessity of asking for rain to create better conditions for sowing winter crops, according to the news agency Interfax. Speaking at the international forum "Bioprom," Lut emphasized that the difficulties in sowing winter crops are due to the prolonged absence of rain. She also noted that this year Russia has faced numerous natural phenomena that have made agricultural work more challenging.
It is expected that around 20 million hectares of winter crops will be sown, as was the case last year. However, due to the lack of moisture, this process is facing difficulties, and the minister emphasized that much will depend on the rain. Lut also called for turning to the Prophet Elijah, who is traditionally considered a benefactor of rain and fertility, and asking him to improve the weather conditions.
