According to data from GACC, the General Administration of Customs of China, the country imported 11.37 million tons of soybeans in September. This figure is slightly lower than the record level of the previous month, when 12.14 million tons were imported, Reuters reports.
Market operators believe that maintaining high purchasing levels is related to concerns about escalating trade tensions between China and the United States, especially if Donald Trump wins the presidential election scheduled for November 5 of this year.
The total amount of soybean imports to China for January-September 2024 reached almost 81.9 million tons, exceeding the figure for the same period of the previous year by 8.1%.
