Kazhydromet has published a forecast on soil moisture before the upcoming spring sowing.
According to the forecast, higher temperatures are expected in April, which will lead to increased evaporation of moisture from the soil surface. As a result, the topsoil layer may quickly dry out, which in some cases may lead to a lack of soil moisture, say agrometeorologists.
However, overall, the conditions that have developed during the autumn-winter period will be favorable for grain-growing regions. In the Akmola, North Kazakhstan, and Turkistan regions, soils with optimal moisture conditions will prevail, while in other grain-growing territories, conditions will be diverse, but a satisfactory or optimal level of humidity is expected," commented Kazhydromet.
