This year, about 1.3 million tons of sugar beets were harvested in Kazakhstan with an average yield of 535.5 centners per hectare. This information was reported by the press service of the head of the government.
By now, Kazakh sugar plants have already accepted 988.6 thousand tons of sugar beets for processing. The "Aksu Kant" plant received 351.7 thousand tons, including 39.3 thousand tons from the Zhambyl region. The Koksu sugar plant received 252.6 thousand tons, and the Merken sugar plant - 384.3 thousand tons. The remaining harvest is awaiting processing by farmers.
Half of the total beet harvest, which is 640 thousand tons, was collected in the Zhambyl region, where the Merken sugar plant is the only processing enterprise. Taking into account the existing capacities, the Merken plant will be able to process 450 thousand tons, with 100 thousand tons sent for processing to the Aksu plant in the Jetisu region, and the remaining 90 thousand tons will be sent to Kyrgyz sugar plants.
This decision was made to ensure the processing of the entire sugar beet harvest. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan at the governmental level have concluded an agreement on continuous acceptance, processing, and mutual sugar supplies. At the same time, all farmers, regardless of which plant they delivered their beets to, will receive subsidies in accordance with established rules from local authorities and sugar plants.
