Experts from Statistics Canada have updated data on wheat production in the country in 2024. They announced a new figure - 34.9 million tonnes, which is 6.1% higher than the previous estimate. This growth was made possible by a high durum crop, which increased by 43.6% over the year, reaching 5.9 million tonnes.
As for other types of grains, in 2024, barley production in Canada decreased by 8.6% to 8.1 million tonnes, while oat production increased by 27% to 3.4 million tonnes.
However, canola production in the country decreased by 7% compared to market expectations, amounting to 17.8 million tonnes instead of the expected 18.25-18.5 million tonnes.
