In June of this year, Indonesia significantly increased its grain imports from Russia. According to the Indonesian Statistical Agency, the import volume grew by almost 11 times, reaching $26.1 million.
This month, Indonesia purchased around 95 thousand tons of grain from Russia for $26.1 million, whereas the volume was 4.7 thousand tons at $2.4 million the year before. Grain exports to Indonesia tripled both in volume and value.
During the first half of this year, sales of Russian grain to Indonesia increased by 11 times, both in volume and value, reaching 782.6 thousand tons totaling $221.4 million. This is the highest grain supply volume for the first half of the year, accounting for about 80% of the total supply volume of the previous year.
Mainly, Russia provided wheat to Indonesia, comprising 99% of the total supply volume. Russia holds the fifth position in terms of wheat exports to the country. Australia led with an export volume of 1.9 million tons, followed by Canada (1.43 million), Argentina (1.39 million), and Ukraine (948 thousand).
