Grain exports from Siberian regions to China increased fivefold

From July to November 2023, grain exports from the Siberian Federal District to China increased fivefold and amounted to 744,000 tons. Novosibirsk Oblast became the main exporter, supplying 235,000 tons. Altai Krai, Irkutsk Oblast, Omsk Oblast, Tomsk Oblast, and the Republic of Khakassia also increased grain shipments to China. The overall export to China exceeds last year's level by five times.

Grain exports to China from the regions of the Siberian Federal District (SFD) for the period from July to November 2023 increased five times compared to last year and amounted to 744 thousand tons. The leading exporter was the Novosibirsk region, which supplied 235 thousand tons. Shipments include wheat, wheat flour, hulled sunflower seeds, buckwheat husks, rapeseed meal, oat flakes and groats, sunflower cake, buckwheat and barley groats and other goods. Exports to China are five times higher than last year's figure.

In addition to the Novosibirsk region, shipments are also carried out by the Altai Territory, Irkutsk Region and Omsk Region. The Altai Territory is the leader in shipments of peas, rapeseed and buckwheat. The Irkutsk Region and Krasnoyarsk Territory chose rapeseed as their main product. The Omsk region increased exports to China fourfold, supplying 98 thousand tons of grain and its processed products. The Tomsk region and the Republic of Khakassia also increased grain shipments to China, reaching 4 thousand tons, which is twice as much as a year ago.
