Specialists of the Novorossiysk branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Grain Quality Assessment Center" have recorded an increase in the export of cereals and leguminous crops through the ports of the Krasnodar Territory from January to June 2024. The total volume exceeded 26 million tons, which is 10% higher than the indicators of the previous year.
The grain exported in the first half of the year mainly consisted of wheat, barley, maize, rye, and oats. Wheat accounted for the largest share in exports, with its volume exceeding 80% of the total number of crops shipped. In addition, wheat exports from January to June this year increased by 10% compared to the same period last year.
Grain was shipped to more than 60 countries, with the main importers being Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Bangladesh, Libya, Yemen, Pakistan, Algeria, Kenya, and Indonesia. A notable event of this year was the resumption of exports to some countries after a period of hiatus.
For example, in the first six months of 2024, Ethiopia received 293.3 thousand tons of wheat, which is five times more than in the entire year of 2022. Deliveries of 278.7 thousand tons of wheat to Sri Lanka also reached record levels - five times more than in the entire year of 2021. China, in turn, became the main importer of oats, as the export of this cereal crop exceeded 44.8 thousand tons, which is 26 times more than in the entire year of 2022.
The director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Grain Quality Assessment Center," Ruslan Khasanov, reported that in April 2024, Djibouti began exporting Russian wheat. The total volume for the first half of the year exceeded 122.6 thousand tons.
In general, during the agricultural year 2023/2024, 53 million tons of cereals and leguminous crops, including wheat, barley, peas, maize, chickpeas, lentils, rye, oats, millet, sorghum, rice, and buckwheat, were exported from the ports of the Krasnodar Territory.
