In the first half of 2024, the volumes of agricultural products exported by the agro-industrial complex of Transbaikalia exceeded 90,000 tons. Governor Alexander Osipov instructed the regional Ministry of Agriculture to increase the volumes of shipments abroad. This was announced by the head of the agrarian department, Denis Bochkarev.
"The main contribution to the exports of Transbaikalia is made by grain crops, which constitute about 60% of the total volume. The products of the food and processing industry account for approximately 20% of the foreign trade turnover. More than 10% of the shipments consist of exports of oilseeds," explained the Minister of Agriculture of the region.
China is the main market for sales, while Mongolia has a small share. This information was provided by the minister.
It is worth noting that every year there is an increase in the export of agricultural products through the border crossings of Transbaikalia.
"The export volume of barley and wheat has increased by more than three times compared to the same period last year, and buckwheat by more than twice. Due to the export of coarse flour, which was not exported before, there is an increase in shipments of products from the food and processing industry. An increase in deliveries of products from the oil and fat industry is also noted," clarified Denis Bochkarev.
It is important to note that a certain portion of export shipments is transit: some agricultural organizations send products to neighboring countries that were produced outside the Transbaikal region.
