Export of agricultural products of the Novosibirsk region has increased by 2% despite the adverse weather conditions: news from the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In January-August 2024, the agro-industrial complex (APK) of the Novosibirsk region increased its export of products by 2% compared to the same period in 2023, despite the crops being affected by heavy rains. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Andrey Goncharov, during a meeting with journalists.

Goncharov emphasized that their main priority is supporting agricultural producers, despite the challenging situation with the harvest. He expressed confidence that all possible measures will be taken to help our agricultural producers overcome this difficult period.

Deputy head of the Federal Customs Revenue Service of the Siberian Customs Administration, Natalia Glazunova, added that the share of agricultural products in the export of the Novosibirsk region for the first 8 months of 2024 amounted to 20%. The main export products are wheat, peas, barley, and flax seeds.

According to Glazunova, wheat exports grew by 1.3 times, peas by 1.7 times, barley by 1.8 times, buckwheat by 3 times, rapeseed oil by 2.9 times, and sunflower oil by 6 times.

Furthermore, the geography of agricultural exports has expanded. Novosibirsk wheat is now shipped to Cuba, while wheat and corn are exported to Libya.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk region estimated the losses of farmers due to crop loss from heavy rains at 1 billion rubles. By September 2024, it was estimated that over 160,000 hectares of crops had been destroyed. Additionally, the grain quality had significantly decreased.

An emergency regime was declared in the Novosibirsk region starting from September 10 to provide assistance to farmers.
