In the first half of the current year, the export of linseed oil from the Rostov region to China increased by 900% compared to the same period last year. This was announced by the Deputy Governor and Minister of Agriculture and Food of the region, Konstantin Rachalovsky.
Rachalovsky noted that since the beginning of 2024, the amount of exported products to China has increased ninefold compared to the previous year. Currently, the safety and quality of the following products have been confirmed for export: 4.7 thousand tons of linseed oil, over 100 thousand tons of sunflower meal, 11.4 thousand tons of vegetable oil, and 7.9 thousand tons of rapeseed oil.
Last year, only 506 tons of linseed oil were exported to China from the Rostov region.
This year, the region intends to export agricultural products totaling $5.3 billion. According to Rachalovsky, the plan has already been 72% fulfilled by mid-August, and it is expected to reach 100% by the end of the year.
Data from the Regional Ministry of Agriculture and Food show that the main share of agricultural exports from the Rostov region consists of grain crops, which make up over 70% of the total export volume. Nevertheless, demand for other types of agricultural products is also increasing.
It is worth noting that the plans of the Rostov region for this year include further increasing the export of agricultural products to China. In 2023, the export of agricultural products from the region to China tripled compared to the previous year, reaching 662 thousand tons worth $294 million.
