The Center for Safety and Quality Assessment of Agricultural Industry Products (CSQAAIP) plans to achieve 100% coverage of research on vegetable oils in accordance with the requirements of importing countries by 2025. This statement was made by Andrey Musatov, the head of the department for safe handling of pesticides and agrochemicals, during the V Anniversary Fat-and-Oil Conference.
According to him, currently, testing laboratories can verify over 90% of the necessary quality and safety indicators of vegetable oils required by importing countries. In 2024, 295 indicators of pesticide residue content (227 of which relate to vegetable oils) and 18 phthalate indicators were added to the scope of accreditation in accordance with China's requirements.
According to the Federal Customs Service (FCS), in the first quarter of 2025, Russia exported more than 1 million tons of vegetable oils. About 30% (335 thousand tons) went to China, India purchased 292 thousand tons, Turkey – 265 thousand tons, Belarus – 44 thousand tons, Algeria – 41 thousand tons.
Turkey doubled its imports compared to the previous year, and Belarus increased by 22%.
In addition, new countries have appeared in the export of Russian vegetable oils: Morocco (8 thousand tons) and Chile (1 thousand tons).
It was previously reported that Russia may increase sunflower oil exports to 5.6 million tons in the 2024/25 season and increase its market share from 38% to 42%.
