Alexander Chebotaev, the chairman of the board of Agrosouz of Altai Krai, expressed his opinion on the redistribution of crop areas taking into account the profitability of various agricultural crops at a specialized conference at AGAU.
He noted that the forecast for the export of grains and legumes for 2024 is favorable, allowing to consider the potential to export 2.2 million tons of products abroad. However, restrictions from the Republic of Kazakhstan hinder the export of more than 1.3 million tons of grain from the region, leading to a transformation of the export structure.
Currently, China is the main consumer of 90% of Altai rapeseed and flax exports, while Kazakhstan leads in the export of sunflower and soybeans. In this regard, Chebotaev believes that crop areas should be redistributed considering profitability and benefit. Oilseed crops will remain a priority in terms of profitability, with the maximum income expected from rapeseed and soybeans.
Corn and buckwheat, as in the previous year, will be leaders in profitability among grains. An increase in corn acreage is observed every year in Altai Krai. It is also forecasted that acreage for chickpeas, mustard, and lentils will increase, as reported by the AGAU press service.
