Sunflower seeds prices are expected to rise, predicts an expert in the oilseed market.

According to the expert of the Moldovan sunflower seed market Yuri Rizha, prices for sunflower seeds in Moldova have been stable for almost a month, but an increase is expected in the near future.

According to his estimates, the Beltsy plant purchases oilseeds at a price of 6754 lei per ton (including VAT), while at the Giurgiulesti port, the price of sunflower seeds is 370 dollars per ton. In the central regions of Moldova, sunflower seeds cost from 6400 to 6600 lei per ton (including VAT) with instant payment upon loading.

"However, there is also good news - sunflower prices in the Black Sea basin have started to rise. At DAP Constanta, the price of the oil crop increased from 405 to 410 dollars per ton in a week. The Romanian processor Prutul-Galați restored the price to 400 dollars per ton after lowering it to 385 dollars per ton in early March. Cargill buys sunflower seeds in Constanta at a price of 400 dollars per ton. In Bulgaria, the price increased by 10 dollars per ton," noted Yuri Rizha.

"Therefore, an increase in sunflower prices, including in Moldova, is expected in the near future," the analyst predicts.
