Prices for sunflower seeds and oil continue to rise on the domestic market. Recent data from the Oilworld portal shows that the purchase price of sunflower oil in the European part of the country has increased by 944 rubles to 78.6 thousand rubles per ton, while the selling price has increased by 611 rubles to 79.6 thousand rubles per ton. The average purchase price of sunflower seeds has also risen by 1.2 thousand rubles to 36.1 thousand rubles per ton, and the purchase price has increased by 1.1 thousand rubles to 37.5 thousand rubles per ton.
The analytical center of the company Ruseed reports based on data as of October 1 that the area sown with sunflowers is 5 million hectares, and the average yield at the moment is 17.1 centners per hectare, which is 11.6% lower than the previous year. It is projected that the supply deficit and increased demand for oil will lead to further price increases for sunflower seeds. Currently, average purchase prices are around 31 thousand rubles per ton, but an increase to 31.5-32 thousand rubles per ton is expected in the near future. Last year, prices were at 23.3 thousand rubles per ton.
Prices for sunflower seeds have been rising for a month due to a decrease in yield, which is expected to be around 15 million tons this season. The head of the company "Agrotech-Garant" Sergey Orobinsky confirms the rise in prices for oilseeds. Currently, their price is 40-42 thousand rubles per ton (including VAT), while a month ago they cost 37-38 thousand rubles. Orobinsky notes that demand for sunflower seeds significantly exceeds supply, especially in the Rostov region and Krasnodar Territory.
There is also information about the purchase of oilseeds at prices above 40 thousand rubles per ton, indicating serious competition among processors. Farmers are not rushing to sell their crop in anticipation of further price increases. The head of the Oilseed Union, Mikhail Maltsev, reports that price growth has reached its limit, and the export duty on sunflower oil, which was zero in October, will be 1 thousand rubles per ton in November. He believes that there will be no further price increases, and there may even be a decrease.
Mikhail Maltsev also notes that the demand for oilseeds exceeds supply, and plants are competing for large batches with high oil content. Analyst Lilya Varygina from the OleoScope agency also believes that further price increases for raw materials and oil are not expected due to oversupply in the market.
It is expected that the price of oil will depend on the level of sunflower seed supply in the new agricultural year. Despite tight balances in the Black Sea region, a decrease in yield is also expected in the EU and slightly in Argentina. Ukrainian farmers are also delaying the sale of sunflower seeds to the plants. Export prices for sunflower oil may increase slightly due to lower yields and slow raw material sales by agricultural producers, but much will depend on the global situation.
