Sugar beet harvesting continues actively in the Lipetsk region. To date, 48% of the total area allocated for this industrial crop in 2023 has been harvested, which is about 53 thousand hectares. As part of the current harvesting campaign, farmers in the region will have to cultivate 109 thousand hectares. Governor Igor Artamonov emphasized the importance of sugar beet as a strategic crop for the region, noting the high achievements of local beet growers and the use of the latest scientific techniques in the growing and processing process.
2.7 million tons of sugar beets have already been harvested, and the crop yield this year is 505 centners per hectare, which is 100 centners higher than last year. In some areas, such as Lipetsk and Chaplyginsky, the figures are even higher - more than 550 centners per hectare. The leaders in yield are Dobrovsky farmers, harvesting up to 630 centners per hectare.
According to the regional department of agriculture, six sugar factories in the Lipetsk region processed nearly 2 million tons of root crops, producing 260 thousand tons of sugar, which confirms the high status of the region, one of the top 3 sugar producers in Russia.
