Agricultural workers in Lipetsk have started planting corn for silage production, according to information received from the Ministry of Agriculture of the region.
This year, there has been an accelerated start to the planting of grain and silage corn. By now, almost 15 thousand hectares of corn intended for food grain have been planted out of the planned 70 thousand. For silage corn, 2 thousand hectares have been sown. Out of the planned 17 thousand hectares, this area was specifically allocated for this fodder crop for the year 2025.
The total area of spring cereals sown in the region amounts to 656 thousand hectares. This constitutes 64 percent of the entire planned area set for planting in the current spring season. As a result, 355 thousand hectares have been sown with grain and leguminous crops, and 178.5 thousand hectares with oilseed crops.
"Spring field work continues. Some spring crops have already been sown, while others are just beginning. This year we have increased the area under the seeding of cereals, oilseeds, and sugar beets. All these crops play a strategic role for our region," said Ekaterina Markova, Minister of Agriculture of the Lipetsk region.
