Japan plans to provide biofuel production technology to Ukraine, Kyodo News reports, citing sources in the country's government.
The plan is expected to be presented next month in Tokyo when representatives of the two countries' public and private sectors meet to discuss support for Ukraine's recovery.
“Japan expects biofuel technology to create a new industry in Ukraine, an agricultural country that has rich resources that can be used as fuel,” the source noted.
It is also planned that Japanese firms will agree to provide renewable energy production technology and related equipment at the Japan-Ukraine conference to promote economic reconstruction, which will be held on February 19.
“If this business takes off, it will provide promising export products for Ukraine and potentially help increase the country’s foreign exchange earnings,” the Japanese official said.
In addition, according to sources, Japan also intends to support the introduction of smart farming technologies in Ukraine.
