After many years of work between the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Vietnamese authorities, the Vietnamese have changed phytosanitary requirements and removed field dodder from the list of quarantine objects. This was reported by the Rosselkhoznadzor press service.
Due to the spread of field dodder in some grain production areas, Russian producers and exporters had to repeatedly clean export batches of grain, causing additional financial and time costs. At the same time, no existing cleaning system could guarantee 100% purity.
After the Vietnamese discovered field dodder in export batches of Russian wheat, the volumes of grain shipments to the Vietnamese market significantly decreased, and Russian exporters started working with other countries where field dodder is not considered a quarantine object.
"Considering the capacity of the Vietnamese market, which annually imports up to 4.7 million tons of wheat, the exclusion of field dodder from the list of quarantine objects for Vietnam will allow Russian exporters to fully realize their export potential and significantly increase wheat supplies to this country," the Rosselkhoznadzor message noted.
