Samara farmers are harvesting sunflowers, oilseed flax, and soybeans, reports Svetich news agency, citing the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
Buckwheat is being harvested on the farm of Vladimir Samokhvalov from the Alekseevsky district. In the harvesting schedule, it precedes sunflower. There are seven combine harvesters and three KamAZ trucks at harvest.
– The area is small – 115 hectares, but precipitation does not allow it to accelerate. It rained yesterday afternoon and the equipment stopped working. It was still humid this morning. We waited for it to dry out,” says the farmer.
The Progress peasant farm has begun harvesting sunflowers. All equipment is on the field. Not only cars, but also tractors are being transported.
The target set by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture for this crop in the Samara region is just over 1 million tons. The volume is achievable, the regional agricultural department is confident. The first 30 thousand tons of sunflowers have been harvested. Farms are now harvesting oilseed flax and have begun harvesting early varieties of soybeans, a highly profitable and export-oriented crop.
– Today, 2.5 million tons of grain have been harvested in the region. The target set by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation for us was exceeded. A number of other indicators have also already been achieved. But it’s too early to draw a final conclusion,” notes Deputy Minister for Plant Industry Ildar Galiev.
