The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt, in cooperation with the Central Bank of the country, ensured the release of almost 120,000 tons of soybeans and corn from ports for the needs of the domestic market from July 7 to 13, Egypt Today reports.
It is noted that 70 thousand tons of grain worth about $25 million and about 49 thousand tons of oilseed worth $37 million, as well as a small batch of feed additives worth $3 million were cleared during the week.
Thus, the total volume of agricultural products released from Egyptian ports in the period from October 16, 2022 to July 13 this year reached 6.5 million tons, including 4.5 million tons of corn and 2 million tons of soybeans, as well as fodder additives.
Recall that the problems with customs clearance of agricultural products in Egypt are caused by difficulties in paying for goods at ports due to a shortage of US dollars.
