According to Morocco's state grain agency ONICL, the country's government is providing import subsidies for up to 2.5 million tons of soft wheat from January 1 to April 30, 2024. These funds will be used as part of the grain import support program for external losses of domestic lands caused by drought.
It is reported that the Moroccan Ministry of Finance and Agriculture already has a simple wheat import scheme for the period from January to April 2024, details of the provision of subsidies will be published separately.
Let us recall that after a two-year drought, which led to a reduction in the domestic wheat harvest, Morocco launched an import support program for the 2023/24 season, which was supposed to provide supplies of up to 2.5 million tons of wheat from July to September, as well as up to 2 million tons in October - December of the current year.
