Demand for oilseed flax from Buryatia has sharply increased this year in China

Since the beginning of 2023, the Rosselkhoznadzor in the Irkutsk region and the Republic of Buryatia has exported several times more plant products, including flax seeds, oats, sunflower, and turf grass. The increase was due to the supply of flax seeds to China, which previously amounted to only 70 tons. The products were inspected and found to be free of quarantine harmful organisms.

Since the beginning of 2023, under the control of the Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Irkutsk Region and the Republic of Buryatia, several times more plant products have been exported compared to the same period last year.

3846 tons of flax seeds, 443 tons of oats, 6.5 tons of sunflower seeds, more than 11 tons of lawn grass seeds were exported from the Republic of Buryatia. The increase was mainly due to the shipment of flax seeds to China, the supply of which a year ago amounted to only 70 tons. In addition, oats, sunflower seeds and lawn grasses are inspected when exported to Mongolia.

The batches of regulated products, accompanied by phytosanitary certificates, were sent through the Naushki and Kyakhta checkpoints, both by rail and by road, respectively.

For each batch, a phytosanitary inspection and examination for the presence of quarantine pests was carried out in the Baikal branch of the FGBU "VNIIKR" and the FGBU "Irkutsk MVL". All products are inspected in accordance with the phytosanitary requirements of the importing countries and released free from CVO.
