The first deputy governor and head of the region's Ministry of Agriculture, Sergei Balykin, took part in an online meeting of the headquarters for work in agriculture, which was chaired by the Russian Minister of Agriculture, Dmitry Patrushev.
The main issues discussed at the meeting included the state of winter crops, preparation for spring field work and the allocation of subsidies for agricultural producers.
In the Orenburg region, winter crops have been sown on an area of 857 thousand hectares for the 2024 harvest, of which 848.3 thousand hectares are occupied by grain crops. As of mid-January, an assessment of the condition of winter crops on an area of 325.1 thousand hectares showed that 38 percent are in good condition, 53 percent are in satisfactory condition, and 9 percent are in unsatisfactory condition.
For this year's harvest, farmers purchased 22,583 tons of mineral fertilizers, which is 18 percent of the plan (127,610 tons).
In total, this year it is planned to sow 3 million 246.8 thousand hectares, and the total sown area, according to the preliminary forecast, will be 4 million 361.3 thousand hectares (in 2023 - 4 million 356.6 thousand hectares).
