As of November 8 of this year, sugar beet harvesting in Russia has achieved impressive results. According to data from Soyuzrossakhar, 941.9 thousand hectares were harvested, which is 90.2% of the total crop area. Compared to last year, when 783.1 thousand hectares were harvested on the same date, we can conclude that the current season is more successful.
The total volume of sugar beets harvested is also impressive. This year, 45.6 million tons were collected, up 20% from last year's 36.3 million tons. Thus, the yield of sugar beets has increased significantly.
The development of the harvesting work has become even more pronounced over the past week. The harvesting rate increased to 12.3 thousand hectares per day compared to 10.0 thousand hectares in 2022. This indicates the growing efficiency of the cleaning process.
The average sugar beet yield this year is also higher than last year. On average, 484 centners of beets can be obtained from one hectare, while in 2022 this figure was 463 centners. This indicates an increase in the quality and efficiency of the sugar beet growing process.
At the moment, sugar beet harvesting is being completed in the Southern and Volga Federal Districts. However, there are already industries that have completed the processing of the harvested crop. Thus, three sugar factories in the Krasnodar region have successfully processed sugar beets. Of the 27 million tonnes processed at 63 of the 66 plants, production was 3.77 million tonnes of sugar. Last year, on the same date, the amount of processed sugar beets was 24.22 million tons, and sugar production was 3.32 million tons.
Thus, the current season has been more successful for the agricultural sector in terms of harvesting and processing of sugar beets. A significant increase in the harvesting area, yield and volume of harvested beets indicates an increase in the efficiency of processes in the agricultural industry. This is a positive trend for the industry and the country as a whole.
