Stormy rains that swept through Georgia last month have had a positive impact on the prospects of wheat production in the country. Levan Silagava, the head of the Grain and Flour Producers Association of Georgia, shared this information with the media. According to his estimates, the wheat harvest in 2024 could increase by 20% compared to the previous year, reaching 180 thousand tons.
"Last year, Georgia harvested 150 thousand tons of wheat, these are statistical data. This year, it is possible that 20-30 thousand tons more will be harvested. This is only preliminary information," Silagava said. He also added that much will depend on the weather conditions in the coming months.
The wheat harvest in Georgia is scheduled for several weeks ahead.
