In Russia, the pig population increased by 3% in the first quarter. Yaroslavl region ranked second. It is the only one among the five regions where egg production decreased by 13.6 percent to 525.5 million. Well-known companies in the region include "Volzhanin," "Yaroslavsky broiler," "Uglich poultry farm," and several others.
The third place with 425.3 million (+8.3%) was taken by the Rostov region. Dozens of large and small poultry farms operate here, including "Taganrogskaya," "Aksaiskaya," "Yubileynaya," and others.
The fourth place belongs to the Sverdlovsk region. They produced 415.3 million eggs, which is more than three percent higher. The largest and most well-known enterprises in the region are OJSC Poultry Farm "Reftinskaya," OJSC Poultry Farm "Sverdlovskaya," AO Breeding Poultry Farm "Sverdlovsky," and many others.
Chelyabinsk region closes the top 5 with 408.8 million eggs, which is more than four percent higher. Here, large and well-known enterprises and companies such as "Chelyabinsk Poultry Farm," "Ravis - Sosnovskaya Poultry Farm," and several others operate.
Among the regions not included in the top five, the Arkhangelsk region saw the most significant increase in egg production – by one and a half times to 17.9 million eggs. Following is the Khabarovsk Territory with an 84% growth to 81.2 million. Additionally, in the Zabaykalsky Krai, production increased by a third to 6.2 million eggs.
Japan became the largest buyer of beef from the USA. Pork sales also increased by 17 and six percent respectively, reaching 33.6 thousand tons. However, in this case, almost two-thirds of all shipments went to Mexico.
Other importers, including other Latin American countries and Asian states (including those mentioned above), were not named. The export value, as with beef, is not provided.
Food product prices were harmonized. Information on prices was presented by two Don poultry farms – "Belokalitvinskaya" and "Aksaiskaya." The former reduced purchase prices by five to ten percent in April, while the latter reduced wholesale prices by 10% in small stores.
A representative of "Belokalitvinskaya" mentioned that currently, a dozen eggs retail for an average of 85-90 rubles, rising to about 120 including logistics and trade markup. After Easter and other May holidays, he expects the final price to decrease to 100-110. The manager of "Aksaiskaya Poultry Farm" reported that the wholesale price for a dozen eggs was 90 rubles. He also mentioned that for larger wholesale, there is no specific price, and prices are discussed individually before each delivery.
Other market participants expect the most noticeable price drop right after Easter. They believe it will be related not only to the seasonal drop in demand after the holiday rush but also to the increase in domestic production. Retailers at "Magnit" shared that they maintain fixed egg markups of 5-10 percent and have no plans to raise product prices.
