Sunflower oil supplies in 2021 amounted to $0.9 million in monetary terms, in 2022 they increased by $1.4 million, up to $2.3 million, or 2.56 times, follows from the materials of Agroexport. In total, according to the results of 2022, the volume of exports of agricultural products of the Russian Federation to Djibouti amounted to 3.1 million dollars, in 2021 - 1.9 million, in 2020 - 0.3 million dollars.
Meanwhile, in 2018 and 2019, the supply of agricultural products amounted to $11.1 million and $24.5 million, respectively. "The estimated volume of the potential supply of agricultural products from Russia to Djibouti is estimated at $60 million. The main promising positions are cereals and legumes, sunflower oil, wheat flour and other agricultural products," Agroexport reports.
In 2021, the Russian Federation supplied wheat flour, peas, vodka and beer to Djibouti; in 2022, supplies of margarine, dried lentils, sugar-free water and additives began.
The Republic of Djibouti is a small state in East Africa with a population of just over 1 million people. Due to the scarcity of fertile land, the country is highly dependent on food imports. In addition, the state serves as a key transshipment center for ships passing through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, as well as the main transport and logistics hub for Ethiopia, experts write.
