In the last decade of May, in the Chernozem zone, and especially in the south of Russia, the tension of agrometeorological conditions will increase due to drought, according to the forecast data of the Hydrometeorological Center.
In the republics of the North Caucasus, as well as in Western Siberia and Primorsky Krai, soil overmoistening is possible in certain areas of fields due to rain. However, in most of the European and Asian parts of Russia, warm and dry weather is expected, favorable for spring sowing work.
The director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, said that in the central-chernozem regions - Lipetsk, Tambov, Voronezh, and Kursk - very little precipitation fell in March and April.
"And in the first two weeks of May, only 20-40% of the norm fell as well. Logically, if in two weeks, it should have been 65%, about two-thirds. In the coming days, no rains are expected in these regions, as the weather is currently controlled by an anticyclone. I'm talking about the forecast for the next 5-6 days, until the end of the week," Vilfand said.
In early May, Russian regions faced frosts. Because of this, an emergency regime was introduced in Lipetsk, Voronezh, and Tambov regions in agriculture. Vilfand warned on May 17 that frosts may occur in certain areas of the European part of Russia, including in the south, in the Volga and Ural federal districts, as well as in Siberia.
