Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that reduces restrictions on the placement of specialized storage facilities for hazardous and non-hazardous substances, as well as fertilizers within the water protection zones of Russian seaports. The corresponding document is posted on the legal information portal.
This decision is aimed at developing port capacities and facilitating transport logistics in the country. Previously, due to sanctions, it was difficult for Russian companies to use port infrastructure abroad for transshipment of hazardous and non-hazardous substances. As a result, Russian producers had to ensure the transportation of fertilizers at their own facilities, which caused certain inconvenience. According to government estimates, restoring fertilizer exports could bring the budget an additional five billion rubles annually.
The law amends the Water Code to remove restrictions on the location of storage facilities in the immediate vicinity of seaports, which will facilitate the transshipment and storage of hazardous substances.
