Despite the challenging weather conditions, the agricultural sector continues to demonstrate positive dynamics. According to the results of the first seven months of the current year, there is an increase in production in the agro-industrial complex, and the grain harvest has already exceeded 93 million tons, according to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev.
Patrushev held a meeting to discuss the development of Russia's agro-industrial complex. He noted that the situation in agriculture and the food industry looks promising, as reported in the Government's Telegram channel.
"All grain regions have already started harvesting the new crop. More than 93 million tons of grain have already been harvested, including 70.5 million tons of wheat. Naturally, adverse weather conditions that accompanied the work in some regions of the South, Central Russia, and the Volga region for most of the season will affect the overall volumes. In any case, the Ministry of Agriculture maintains its forecast for grain harvest, which is expected to reach 132 million tons," Patrushev stressed.
Alongside the grain harvest, active work is underway to harvest oilseeds, vegetables, potatoes, fruits, and berries. In addition, winter planting has also begun and is proceeding according to expectations, he added.
Patrushev particularly emphasized the importance of using domestic seeds. For example, the share of Russian seeds in the total structure of winter wheat plantings this year exceeded 90%.
The government is taking a set of measures to support agricultural producers. In 2024, more than 94 billion rubles have been announced for agricultural support, he added.
