Imports of soybeans to Vietnam have reached a historical maximum: more than 1.45 million tons in the first 8 months of 2024.

In the first eight months of 2024, Vietnam imported about 1.45 million tons of soybeans worth $754.48 million. The main supplier was Brazil (59% of the total volume), followed by the USA and Canada.

During the first eight months of 2024, the volume of soybean imports to Vietnam reached almost 1.45 million tons, worth around 754.48 million US dollars. The average price per ton of soybeans was 521.6 US dollars.

According to the preliminary plan of the Maritime Affairs Department, the volume of soybean imports in the first eight months of 2024 is expected to be almost 1.45 million tons, worth 754.48 million US dollars. The average price per ton will be 521.6 US dollars. These figures will exceed the import volume by 5.2% and be 14% and 18.2% lower in terms of value and price of soybeans for the first eight months of 2023, respectively.

Brazil is the main supplier of soybeans to Vietnam, accounting for 59% of the total import volume of soybeans in the first eight months of 2024. Imports from Brazil amounted to 852,614 tons, which is approximately 429.21 million US dollars.

The next largest supplier during the first eight months of 2024 was the United States. The volume of shipments from this country was 470,501 tons, approximately equivalent to 253.46 million US dollars.

Canada follows with a shipment volume of 83,221 tons, equivalent to 49.75 million US dollars, accounting for 5.8% of the total soybean import volume in Vietnam.
