UK wheat production in 2023/24 is forecast to be 14 million tonnes, down 10% on the previous season (15.5 million tonnes).
It is expected that grain imports into the country at the end of the season will increase to 1.7 million tons (+.4 million tons per year), and consumption will reach 14.8 million tons (+.2 million tons). Of this total figure, 7 million tons will be used for feed production (+.1 million tons) and 7.5 million tons will be used in the food industry (+.2 million tons).
It is also noted that barley production in the country this year decreased to 6.9 million tons (-.5 million tons per year), and oat production - to .8 million tons (-.2 million tons).
