In the first half of this year, agricultural production in all households increased by 2% and amounted to 3.38 trillion rubles according to Rosstat's preliminary estimates. In July, the industry showed a growth of 5.2%. Compared to July last year, when Rosstat recorded a 4.5% decrease, the seven-month decrease was 0.3%.
As of August 1, according to the statistical agency's data, grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize) in agricultural organizations were threshed on an area of 10.6 million hectares, which is 46.4% more than last year. The harvest amounted to 38.7 million tons, which is 29.2% more than the previous year. In particular, wheat harvest was higher by 29%, reaching 32.1 million tons. However, the average yield of grains and leguminous crops was 4.9 centners per hectare lower than the previous year, amounting to 36.4 c/ha. For example, the average wheat yield decreased by 4.5 c/ha to 38.5 c/ha.
Production of cattle and poultry for slaughter in all households for January-July increased by 3.2% and reached 9.1 million tons. In July, 1.4 million tons were produced, which is 7.2% more than the previous year, and 7.7% more than in June this year. In agricultural organizations, the growth for July was 8.9% compared to July 2023, amounting to 1.06 million tons. The seven-month increase in agricultural organizations was 4.2%, reaching 7.9 million tons. In particular, beef production for slaughter increased by 9.2% to 660.2 thousand tons, pork by 7.1% to 3.39 million tons, poultry by 1.1% to 3.8 million tons. However, according to Rosstat, the cattle population decreased by 3.8% by the end of July to 7.7 million animals, including a 3.2% decrease in the number of cows to 3.08 million. The swine population increased by 2.6% to 27.3 million, and poultry increased by 4.7% to 479.8 million.
Total milk production in all households amounted to 20.1 million tons, which is 0.9% more than in the first seven months of last year. In July, 3.3 million tons were produced, which is 0.5% less than in July 2023 and 2.3% less than in June. Milk production in agricultural organizations increased by 1.7% in July to 1.75 million tons and by 3.3% for the seven months to 12.2 million tons. Despite a reduction in the number of cows in these organizations, their productivity is increasing, as indicated by Rosstat's data: the average milk yield per cow in January-July was 5331 kg compared to 5074 kg for the same period last year.
Egg production in all households decreased by 2% to 26.9 billion pieces. In July, 4.1 billion eggs were produced, which is 1% less than the previous year and 0.6% more than in June. Egg production in agricultural organizations decreased by 0.4% in July compared to July last year, amounting to 3.18 billion pieces. Over the seven months, egg production in agricultural organizations decreased by 2.1%, totaling 21.8 billion pieces. The average egg-laying rate per chicken increased from 181 eggs in January-July 2023 to 184 eggs.
