Sugar production in the Tambov region has reached record levels: more than 390 thousand tons of sugar beets have already been harvested.

Five enterprises in the Tambov region have started processing sugar beets. More than 390,000 tons of sugar beets have been harvested, resulting in 44,000 tons of sugar produced. The total volume of harvested beets is 620,000 tons. Sugar production is estimated at 603,000 tons.

The plants produce 31.1 tons of sugar per day and export it to 18 countries, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.

Since September of this year, all five sugar production enterprises in the Tambov region have started processing the fresh sugar beet harvest. The current volume of harvested beets already exceeds 390 thousand tons, from which approximately 44 thousand tons of sugar have been produced. This information is reported by the publication "Voice of the Farmer".

According to the regional Ministry of Agriculture, the total volume of harvested beets is around 620 thousand tons, which constitutes 15% of the total field area. Beets are cultivated on a total area of 116 thousand hectares.

By the end of 2023, 5.9 million tons of beets were harvested, from which over 603 thousand tons of sugar were produced. Thanks to these results, the Tambov region took the third place in the Central Federal District and the fourth place in Russia in terms of sugar production.

The overall processing capacity of the five sugar beet processing plants is 31.1 tons per day. Sugar is being produced within the region and supplied to retail stores in Russia, as well as exported to 18 countries. A significant portion of the exports go to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.
