The website "Kommersant" reports that the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) has presented a forecast for grain harvest in Russia in 2025 for the first time. According to this forecast, it is expected that the grain harvest will be around 130 million tons.
IKAR had previously estimated that the wheat harvest next year would range from 81 to 85 million tons.
Dmitry Rylko, the general director of IKAR, noted that these forecasts are extremely preliminary. He also pointed out one of the main problems – a delay in the development of winter crops. In some regions, they have not yet sprouted.
Mr. Rylko stated: "Of course, this is not a catastrophe: there have been rains in the regions, the wheat has grown well. But still, a serious lag in the development of winter crops is the main problem."
The preliminary forecast of SovEcon states that in 2025, the wheat crop in Russia may amount to 80.1 million tons, leading to a 1.7% decrease compared to the current year (81.5 million tons) and a 9.1% decrease from the five-year average (88.1 million tons). Vladimir Petrichenko, the general director of the analytical company "ProZerno," also does not rule out the possibility that the wheat harvest next year may be even worse.
