Soybean sowing in the Primorsky region has been halted due to excessive soil moisture, leading to a suspension of the main export crop. Currently, only 33% of the plan has been completed.
In the region's Ministry of Agriculture, officials note that local farmers are working under extremely difficult conditions, carrying out agricultural work in a risky zone. This year, sowing soybeans became impossible due to prolonged floods that persisted in May and June.
"The soil in the areas is significantly saturated with moisture, which hinders work with agricultural machinery. Currently, only 97.6 thousand hectares of soybeans have been sown, representing only 33% of the planned area for the current year," say specialists, adding that they are awaiting recommendations and research from local scientists on this situation.
It is worth noting that earlier, agricultural producers in the Primorsky Krai completed the rice planting. This year, over 13 thousand hectares of this crop, which requires high humidity, were planted.
