The Government of the Russian Federation has decided to transfer the export duty on sunflower seeds to rubles.
According to the resolution signed on August 31 and posted on the portal of legal information (No. 1405 "On Amending the Rates of Export Customs Duties on Goods Exported from the Russian Federation Outside the Customs Territory of the Eurasian Economic Union"), the duty is set at 32,000 rubles per ton .
The duty will be valid from September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024.
Prior to this, the export duty on sunflower was 50%, but not less than $320 per ton.
A sunflower export duty of 50%, but not less than $320 per ton, was introduced on July 1, 2021. At first, it was valid until August 31, 2022, then it was extended until August 31, 2023.
Experts call the export duty prohibitive. According to Rosstat, at the end of July, sunflower stocks in agricultural organizations amounted to 597.5 thousand tons, which is 1.5 times more than a year earlier.
According to the forecast of ProZerno, the Russian Federation this year can harvest a record harvest of sunflower - 16.596 million tons against 16.357 million tons last year.
