At the meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev, issues related to preparation for the autumn sowing in the regions of Russia and current seasonal field work were discussed. Minister of Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Krasnodar Region Fedor Dereka participated in the video conference event.
Dmitry Patrushev noted that all regions involved in grain production have already begun harvesting the new crop. The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia maintains a forecast for grain collection at the level of 132 million tons.
Dmitry Patrushev mentioned that winter sowing has already begun on an area of 3.3 million hectares. He also reminded about the need to continue the transition to using domestic seeds. For instance, the share of Russian seeds in the structure of winter wheat sowings this year exceeded 90%.
Fedor Dereka pointed out that in the region, harvesting of row crops, oilseeds, fruits, vegetables, and grapes is ongoing. Furthermore, active preparations for the autumn sowing are underway.
During the sowing of winter grains, we will use only domestic seeds developed by scientists of the National Grain Center. Kuban farmers are already fully supplied with them. Currently, we are purchasing fuel and mineral fertilizers and checking the operability of agricultural machinery as part of the preparation for the autumn sowing. All these issues are under the control of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, said Fedor Dereka.
He also noted that since the beginning of 2024, farmers in the region have purchased over 1,200 units of various agricultural machinery totaling more than 7.3 billion rubles as part of the modernization of the machine and tractor fleet.
