The construction of a new plant for deep processing of 150 thousand tons of corn grain per year has begun in the Turkestan region. This was reported by ElDala.kz with reference to the press service of the regional akim.

The starch plant will be built in the industrial zone of the Shardara region. The volume of investments in the project is 31.2 billion tenge.

“The launch of the project consists of two stages. At the first stage, this year it is planned to complete the construction of a complex for the storage and drying of grain crops. At the second stage, it is planned to complete the construction of the plant and launch it in 2024-2025,” the akimat said.

It is noted that investors are currently setting zones for sowing corn. In the southern territories of the region, in addition to cotton, corn will be cultivated. This culture contains up to 75% sugar. Therefore, the product can be used for industrial purposes as a natural sugar substitute.

At the plant, located on an area of 35 hectares, it is planned to produce starch syrup - a sweet product similar to thick syrup, which is obtained from starch. The enterprise will be able to provide the necessary products to large confectionery factories and beverage factories in the country.

In addition, the plant will start producing more than 20 types of modified starch, maltose, glucose nectar, gluten, corn oil, germ, bran, granular feed, molasses, glucose sugar and food glucose.

It should be noted that the plant will not use genetically modified raw materials in the production of glucose nectar.

Crystalline glucose is a fast digestible high quality food product. It is used for the production of confectionery bakery products, fruit preserves, condensed milk, ice cream and other culinary products.

As noted in the akimat, a cycle of non-waste processing of corn will be established.

“The investor intends to bring products to both the domestic and foreign markets. The plant will export it to the countries of Asia and Europe,” the press service said.

The peasants of the Zhetysay, Maktaaral, Shardara regions will sow corn themselves and provide the plant with raw materials.

As the akim of the Turkestan region Darkhan Satybaldy noted during a meeting with entrepreneurs in the industrial zone in Shardar, the akimat provides comprehensive support in resolving the issue of the infrastructure necessary for the construction of the plant.

“We are always ready to support entrepreneurs. We create conditions for investors and provide free land plots with infrastructure. This is a great opportunity for citizens who want to start their own business. We plan to open several plants and factories in the Turkestan region. The growth of enterprises will contribute both to the development of the region's economy and employment of the population. The plant in Shardar will increase the income of many families,” Darkhan Satybaldy said.

It is noted that more than 500 people will be employed at the plant.
