Insufficient sowing activity due to excessive soil moisture: only 5% of fields have been sown in Mikhailovsky district.

The rain in April made the soil too moist, which slowed down the sowing in the Mikhaylovskiy district. This year, the sown areas have increased by 20%, exceeding 230,000 hectares, where wheat will dominate.

The latest rain that fell in the second half of April caused excessive soil moisture in the southern part of the region. For example, in the Mikhaylovsky district, which is one of the leading districts, the sowing of early grains on April 22 was completed only to a small extent - about five percent. By the same date last year, more than half of the fields ready for sowing had already been processed throughout the region. Currently, only a quarter of the fields are ready for sowing. Early grain crops occupy just over 40 thousand hectares. It is worth noting that this season the sowing areas have increased by 20 percent and are expected to exceed 230 thousand hectares. The majority will be wheat, a quarter will be occupied by maize for grain, and 20 percent by barley. Oats will be sown on an area twice as small. Buckwheat, beans, and triticale will also be sown.
