US scientists suggest adding copper to pig feed
American researchers from Texas Tech University in Amarillo have found that copper can be a beneficial feed additive for pigs. This statement was made based on a study published in the journal Microbiology Spectrum. Researchers noted the antimicrobial properties of copper and suggested that a copper supplement could improve the condition of pigs' intestines and protect them from pathogenic microorganisms. To minimize the impact on the animals' organisms, copper is added in the form of balls that can gradually dissolve painlessly in the animals' gastrointestinal tract.
