Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced the extension of the "grain deal" term by 60 days. During the briefing, she confirmed that the deal had been extended by 60 days. This information was reported by Interfax.
Zakharova reacted to the statement of the UN representative, Stephane Dujarric, who reminded that the deal text provided for an extension of 120 days.
When a journalist asked how Russia plans to ensure the fulfillment of its part of the deal, Zakharova replied that they will use diplomatic and negotiation methods. They hope this will lead to the desired result.
Consultations on the "grain deal" took place in Geneva on Monday with the participation of the Russian delegation, the UN Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, and the Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development. Following the consultations, Sergei Vershinin, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that Russia does not object to extending the "grain deal," but only by 60 days.
