According to the results of the 1st quarter of 2023, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan amounted to $1.1 billion. According to official statistics, this is 5.2% more than a year earlier.
The lion's share of turnover (76.7%) fell on exports from the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the specified period, the volume of exports increased by 0.9% to $821.3 million, while imports reached $248.9 million (+22.6%).
Note that according to the results of January-March of this year. The largest volume of exports from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan (in monetary terms) fell on wheat and meslin: $237.6 million. This is 5.3% more than in the same period in 2022.
Fertilizers, wheat flour, oil and fat products became other key export commodities.
The trade turnover between the countries can grow even more: to increase the throughput, the Kazakh and Uzbek customs authorities agreed to switch to an enhanced mode of operation.
As APK-Inform clarifies with reference to official statistics, for 8 months of 2022/23 MY, Kazakhstan exported about 2.7 million tons of wheat to Uzbekistan (against 2.05 million tons for the same period last season). Thus, Uzbekistan remains the top importer of Kazakh grain.
