The main railway departments of Kazakhstan and Russia agreed to increase the volume of transportation from the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation and back using electronic waybills, improve the work on (transfer) exchange of trains at joints, the use of locomotive traction and digital interaction in the field of freight transportation. Such agreements were reached following a meeting of members of the boards of JSC NC KTZ and JSC Russian Railways, the KTZ press service reported.
The key topic of the meeting was the main directions of development of transport corridors passing through the territory of Russia and Kazakhstan, coordination of traffic volumes along the eastern route of the international North-South transport corridor until 2030.
It is clarified that over the 11 months of 2023, the volume of freight traffic between Kazakhstan and Russia increased by 5.4% and amounted to more than 83.8 million tons.
