Agrarians of the Terek district of Kabardino-Balkaria have started harvesting corn for grain for the first time in the region.
This year, more than 128 thousand hectares are occupied with corn, exceeding the areas of the previous year. The main corn fields are located in four districts - Baksansky, Tersky, Prokhladnensky, and Zolsky, and make up over 70% of the total area allocated for corn for grain. Corn is the leading grain crop in the republic.
Kabardino-Balkaria is the leader in corn grain production in the North Caucasus Federal District. Almost a third of the corn grain harvest collected in this district comes from Kabardino-Balkaria. In 2023, the republic produced 1.05 million tons of corn grain.
