Italy has become the leader in rice exports to Russia: imports have grown by 4.5 times in the first quarter of 2024.
The Novorossiysk Federal State Budgetary Institution "Grain Assessment Center" received 316 tons of raw rice from Italy and Turkey in the first quarter of 2024, increasing the import by 4.5 times. Italy became the main supplier of rice, importing 76% of the total volume. They also imported 11.5 thousand tons of rice groats from other countries. Rice from Vietnam successfully passed the quality inspection, importing 30% of 132 tons in 2023.

Arrived at the laboratory of the Novorossiysk branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Grain Quality Assessment Center," a staggering 316 tons of raw rice from Italy and Turkey for the first quarter of 2024. This volume exceeds similar indicators of the previous year by a whopping 4.5 times. This information was provided by the center's press service.
It turned out that Italy is the main supplier of rice this year, taking on 76% of all imports since the beginning of the current year.
In addition, in the first three months of this year, more than 11.5 thousand tons of rice were delivered from Argentina, Vietnam, India, China, Myanmar, Pakistan, Paraguay, and the USA. In the first quarter of 2023, rice was supplied only from India, Turkey, and Vietnam.
The center's scientific researchers also decided for the first time to analyze samples of black long-grain rice from Vietnam, of which there were a total of 26 tons. All rice samples tested in the laboratory this year successfully passed the inspection and meet quality standards.
As previously reported by RBC Krasnodar, the indicator of agricultural imports to Kuban increased by a significant 30% in 2023, reaching 132 thousand tons.
