Latest data on consumer price growth from May 28 to June 3
1. During the reporting period from May 28 to June 3 of the current year, there was an increase in the inflation rate by 0.17%. Compared to the same period last year, the indicator reached 8.17%.
2. In the category of food products, the pace of price growth remained almost at the same level, reaching 0.09%. It is worth noting that prices for fruits and vegetables continued to decrease (-0.19%) due to the cheaper cucumbers and tomatoes. Other food products became more expensive by 0.11%. The cost of pork, eggs, and flour decreased, while the increase in prices for poultry, bread and bakery products, as well as dairy products, slowed down.
Global Markets
3. In the presented reporting period, prices for food products on the global markets decreased by 2.2% (compared to a growth of 1.1% in the previous week). In annual terms, in May of the current year, prices for food products fell by 5.5%. It is worth noting that after the previous increase, the price of wheat in France decreased by 2.2%, corn by 4.1%, soybeans by 3.7%, and beef by 3.2%. The decreasing trend in prices for soybean oil also continued (-3.0%). On the U.S. exchange, there was a decrease in wheat prices (-3.9%) after the previous stabilization. The prices of raw sugar, white sugar, and pork stabilized. However, there was an increase in palm oil prices (+0.7%).
4. The global fertilizer market saw a price increase by 0.9% (stabilization compared to the previous week), due to the rise in the cost of mixed fertilizers (+1.4%) and nitrogen fertilizers (+0.4%). In a consolidated annual measurement, in May, the cost of fertilizers decreased by 13.8%.
