In Canada, over the course of 14 years, approximately 1 million heads of cattle have been culled. Farms have actively participated in both programs. According to the Dutch Enterprise Agency (RVO), as of April 4th (no further information available), 506 livestock farms applied for the first program, 621 for the second, and 216 companies applied for both simultaneously.
However, it is still unknown whether the latter will apply to participate in both programs or only one of them. Additionally, the number of actual participants in the expanded program turned out to be much lower. Out of 349 applications approved, only 109 applicants ultimately confirmed their intentions.
Overall, the highest number of applications was submitted by pig farms - 541. There were 356 dairy farms, 203 poultry farms, 162 applications from calf-rearing farms, and 81 from farms engaged in multiple or all sub-sectors.
Russia will increase sown areas by 300,000 hectares - Ministry of Agriculture. The condition of spring barley sowings has also deteriorated. The ratio of such sowings of this culture decreased by one percent in a week, down to 60%.
It is noted that this became the lowest indicator for the specified period in the last 10 years. At the same time, the sowing of this culture is nearing completion. It is completed on 91% of the planned areas, which is nine percentage points less than on the same date last year but five points more than the previous week.
For winter barley, the share of good and excellent sowings, in turn, increased from 66 to 67 in a week. However, this indicator still remains the worst in the last four years. The news agency also reports that corn sowing began in France last week.
As of April 8th, three percent of the forecasted area has been sown, which is three times lower than last year. Improvement in the condition of sowings and faster completion of sowing are expected for corn, aided by sufficiently warm weather conditions.
